[undecipherable]] [Notation, rotated: Major [undecipherable] / [undecipherable] / [undecipherable] go] Pittsburg June 1^st 1798 Sir, Your letter of the 25^th instant, accompanied by one addressed to the Quarter Master General and another to Major Kirkpatrick together with News Papers, is thus received this moment. Three Waggoners, viz. Ritter, Hacks & Glendening have delivered three loads of sundry articles principally Naval Stores but of which [strikethrough: I have] have no information of their final destination neither from you nor the Secretary of War. In consequence of a former letter from you advising me that twenty Guns were to be mounted at this post I immediately provided for that purpose. The carriages therefore for these Guns are in considerable forwardness and only four of these Guns have yet come to hand, viz: two 24 pounders for Gallies & two ditto for batteries which are already mounted. I have been for some time & still am much engag'd in preparation for embarkation of the General and Family together with nearly all the Troops now at this post & Stores destined for the lower posts of the Ohio & Mississippi. I have this day found it necessary to draw on you in favor of William Christy at ten days sight for four hundred & seventy nine dollars which please to pay & charge as usual. John Taylor who acted as Superintendent of the Gallies was on the 26^th ultimo dismissed from the Service & paid in full including an allowance of Nine days pay & twenty three dollars for returning home.
