Sir, Since transmitting you my account current, I have by order of the Commander in chief Made payments to sundry discharged Soldiers & to Officers &c. under Marching orders amount-ing to five hundred dollars; and Yesterday I was unable to provide for the Payment of the Troops now at this post up to this date. which will require at least twenty two hundred dollars n/o which I am to provide and pay immediately as the Troops are under Orders to embark on the Misissippi.
