[Docket on outside of letter: New York / from [undecipherable] [undecipherable] / [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] / Rec'd [undecipherable] — / [undecipherable] 1798] New York, May 25, 1798 — Sir, I inclose you Thomas Hughes's receipt for blacksmiths work, amount 96 dollars & 25 cents — an account of money I disbursed for the Public born at West Point, amount 102 dollars — The ordnance detachment's receipt for their last January pay, amount forty four dollars & 3 cents — my recruiting account at West Point, balance in my favor six dollars — muster & pay rolls of the ordnance detachment for February, March & April last & my account for my salary from the 1^st January to the last of March last — There is now due to Thomas Hughes for blacksmiths work from the first of January to the day Col. Rochefontaine gave up his command: M^r. Hughes delivered to me his account with a certificate on it for said work — I omitted bringing it from West Point — I suppose the amount of it is about 140 dollars.
