The receipt rolle of your detachment at Steuben, from 1 January, to the 31 October 1796, forwarded by the Pay Master General, to this Office for examination, has been compared with the Pay rolle and the sum of two thousand two hundred four dollars & &c, will be entered to your credit on the Books of this Office differing from your statement Dr 3.29 arising from errors in making the payments, agreeably to the enclosed State of differences, that sum will accordingly remain to your debit on the Books of this Office untill refunded to the Pay Master General.
