In January last I took the liberty of addressing a letter to you enclosing a Statement of the Emoluments of my Office as Collector, my Son Tom who served his Apprenticeship with Doctr Foushee of Richmond, has since for near two years been in an extensive practice in the County of Matthews, is desirous of getting an Appointment as Surgeon to one of the Ships of war fitting out. As he has not the pleasure of being known, I believe to you, I have to request your friendly aid in procuring him the Appointment he wishes. I am with great regard
