I have only time to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 16th inst. It is certainly proper that the 12pounders should be fitted to their Carriages and for this purpose I enclose you a letter to Major Houdin to send them to you with all convenient Speed; you will please to Seal and forward the letter to him. With respect to the 8 Inch Howitzers you mention to have provided a Carriage for, I am at a loss to determine what one at Albany is particularly intended, as there is six at that Post when I know how to direct, I will order it down also — for it is of importance to mount all our Guns especially the Brass Ordinance of every description &c
