Sir You will receive from the Treasurer of the United States the sum of three hundred & seventy five Dollars to be paid to Samuel & Joseph Sterrett Baltimore, being so much paid by them to Isaac Garretson Clerk of the Navy Yard for his compensation from 2 June to 2 December 1797 — Also the sum of three hundred eighteen dollars &^tc, to be paid to the said Isaac Garretson for his pay from 2 December 1797 to 2 May 1798. which you will be pleased to pay him and take the proper receipts — I am &^c W^m Simmons Acct^t S & J Sterrett, Naval Agents, Baltimore Accountants Office May 18^th 1798. Sir I duly received your letter of the 10 Inst^t. enclosing the account of Isaac Garretson late Clerk of the Navy Yard for his compensation from 2 June to 2 December 1797, which would have been forwarded to you in course had the information been readily received relative to the last period to which he was paid, and which only come to hand Yesterday — The amount is now remitted to John Kilty E^sq Supervisor Baltimore to whom you will make application and give your duplicate receipts for the same, The amount remitted is D^r 375 agreeably to the account — I am &^c W·S·
