I am favoured with your letter of the 10th instant. you inform me of the 10 four pounder [undecipherable] at your post only five are uniform in length and weight, but you say nothing of the other five, whether they are a medley or uniform in any degree with one another the five first you will please to Send to McSmith in York immediately, who has directions to get them on to this City without delay when I receive the dimensions of them the carriages may be set about and made ready by the time the guns may arrive. you will please to describe the other five, and give me your opinion whether they also may not a pinch be safely used on board a Ship.

Four eighteen pounders with Garrison Carriages, will be forwarded instead of the 24 Pairs mentioned in my letter of the 11th instant. the carriages I presume are good— the Sea Coast Carriages cannot be transported without great labour and expense.

This morning I am requested by the Secretary of War to direct the whole of the Brass 24 Pdrs ordered to your address from Albany to be left at York. you will therefore please to deliver the [undecipherable] with their Carriages and Implements to Colonel Stevens, and take his receipts for what you deliver One of which you will please to inclose to me.— You will receive five 4 pounders from Major Fleming with the other Guns ordered, those you will please to send to me as soon as possible, as they are wanted immediately
