[Major George Fleming 11^th May 1798 Recd 15 —] West Point, May 11^th 1798 Sir I inclose you the weight & length of the four iron twelve pounders I have now ready, and expect to ship tomorrow to M^r Smith. I also inclose you the numbers, weights &c of the 5 iron 6 pounders ship guns. I informed you sometime since that Col^o Rochefontaine got made here of green stuff he cut on the Public land a carriage for the elegant iron 12 pounder — it is not fit to send with the gun. I will keep it here & mount on it one of the clumsy ship 9 pounders and it for salutes. I will send the body of a field carriage Cap^t Wright made a few years since of seasoned plank, for the elegant iron 12 pounder — the iron work of it is not completed — the iron work on it are the transom bolts & transom plates with their hooks. I will also send its wheels — they are ironed but I am not certain whether there are hoes to them.
