I mentioned, that I expected to have Two Teams ready to Start, by Monday the [undecipherable] Inst. with the [underline: tents] &c as required by yours to me, of the 20^th Ulto — Early on that day the teams took in their loads, and set out accordingly — I thought it most (adviseable to notify Maj^r Craig thereof by [underline: Post], as well as by the waggons as there would be no [underline: Charge] of postage — have requested them to pay no money, as I had (advanced them 100$ — Their loads were weighed with great accuracy (and stood thus — Mr Flemings load — Tho^s Davis's load — 50 Common tents — 1289^to 168 Common tents — 2179^to 32 Common D^o — 418 tent poles to make up load 321 Tent poles to make up load 393 2500 2100^to 2100^to at 6⅞ p^r 100^to — 147$ 2500^to at 6⅞ p^r 100^to — 175$ At this busy Season it was not possible to obtain Teams, who would proceed instantaneously, at a less price, or weight, and as the case appeared to be [underline: Urgent], I was obliged to Submit to the Carriage of the Tent poles. I have thus acted agreeable to the best of my Judgement, as Circumstances would permit — — am in hopes these Teams will discharge at Pitts burg Several days Sooner than I mentioned in mine of the 3^d Inst.
