Connecticut Supervisors Office May 5^th 1798. Sir. In a letter from the Treasurer dated the 29^th ult^o. I recieved a [strikethrough: Post] note of the Bank of the U States for seven hundred & ninety three dollars & four cents, on three War-rants issued by the Secretary of War in my favor, which probably may have been designed for the payment of the Officers & recruits at the rendezvous in Middletown in this Distrect. Cap^t Miller applied to me for Money previous to the receipt of the said funs. As the money cannot be paid by one, but only by your directives, I think it my duty to inform you that I have recieved no instructions relative to the disposion of any part of said funs from any quarter.
