Sir I have received your letter of the 27^th Ulto on the subject of paying the Troops at the upper Posts of the Ohio — In answer I have to inform you that the payments to the Troops stationed at those posts will continue as usual to be made by you — Payments to the General Staff and the Officers not stationed permanently at those Posts, will be made by [undecipherable: probable reading "Mr Swan"] while he is in the vicinity — Money will as usual be forwarded to you for the payment of the Garrisons, as soon as the appropriations have passed.
