Ac^c War Dep^t Philadelphia] Pittsburg 27^th April 1798 Sir, Yours of the 20^th instant [strikethrough: is] received covering one to Captain Bisell which shall be sent him by a safe conveyance. In addition to the payments made to the Troops of the upper posts as pointed out by [undecipherable] statement transmitted you on the 18^th of February last I have by order of the Commander in Chief made several Payments to Officers and Men discharged amounting to upwards of One thousand dollars and the General is still making further requisitions And therefore I have to request immediate information whether You expect I shall continue to pay the Troops at the upper posts or shall Major Swan reimburse me &take up the Vouchers of Payments now in my hands.
