Final Resolution of this Unprofitable Business
Document 1798Faesch had long since hoped to see Hodgdon to discuss the subject of shot but so far has been disappointed. If the Secretary of War agrees, there should be a final resolution of this unprofitable business because Faesch is threatened with prosecution by the Comptroller if it is not.

Saml Hodgdon Dear Sir, We hoped long before this to have had the pleasure of seeing you here on the subject of the Shott, but have been as yet disap- pointed in that expectation; It has now become indis= pensably necessary that you should come up immediately if you and the Minister of War think so, that there may be a final issue to this very unprofitable business, for we are threatened with a prosecution by the Comptroller, if it is not done before the 1st of July, this we should wish to avoid, tho’ we have noting to fear from its issue __ We wrote to the Minister of War this day on the subject and hope for a few days notice before you come, that we may be at home, I shall rely upon it you will bring Mr. Hodgdon with you according to your promise and spend some time with me I must beg your answer by the Post and remain with much Esteem and respect.
