[Boston 21 April 1798 James S Deblois] ¶ Dear Sir Boston April 21 1798 M^r Duncan the Bearer of this letter is a particular friend of mine, and I take the liberty of recommending him to your Notice. his object in Visiting your City is to obtain if possible a Lieut Commissⁿ in the Army. he carries with him letters of recommendation from Some of our first Characters, he is a man of real merrit, and from the tenour of his letters I have no doubt of his Success.
