Edward Miller No. No. 25} April 98 Pay 25/April 98 William & [undecipherable] to [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] free] Sir Middletown Ap^rl 8^th 1798 your letter of the 21^st of Feb^y I have recieved, with directions to caul on John Chester Esquire Supervisor, for the Sum of Two Hundred Fifty five Dollars and sixty six Cents, being pay for myself Ens.ⁿ Samuel Parmele and Men for the month of Jan.^ry 1798. Accordingly I have cauled repeatedly on him; he saith there is no money forwarded to him from the war Department for that purpose, I still remain destitute — Charles Farley has not recieved but ten Dollars of his Bounty from me, as I paid him by small sums he said he owed me Six Dollars for wich I took his Rec.^t without turning to my Book. In Stating my Recruiting account I found I had not paid me but ten Dollars, the Rec.^t I ment to destroy but by mistake I enclosed it to you. I enclose you a Certificate Signed Nath. Strong Constable, and Guernsey Bales, who had William Afsbell in Custody — Abel Abby has Recieved four Dollars, by mistake his Rec.^t was not forwarded, also Stephen Rush, Recpt. for four Dollars &Abby which I now forward for one Dollar too, Three Rec.^ts for Bounties amounting to fifteen Dollars.
