Philada 16th April 1798.
Sir,
The enclosed requisition was received this morning in a letter from Colonel Henley under date of the 21st Feb. The Stationary is in Store — the Quantity however called for seems extravagant — I should think one half would be a proportionate and full Supply — this you will determine. The hard ware must be purchased — Mr Simmons I conclude will furnish the bolts & screws required.

Secretary of War.]
Philadelphia 17th April 1798.
Sir,
By order of the Secretary of War send to your address the Stores of Kinds inserted in the enclosed Invoice and Bill of lading — A number of other articles are under order for your Ship, but unfortunately were not ready to go by this conveyance — We want the instituted Commissions; the present mode is very defective — Captain Dunning covenants to go along with [strikethrough: your] your Ship to make delivery of this freight. I will thank you to inform me when he arrives and also whether the delivery answers to the Invoice. The current news is detailed in the newspapers which I doubt not you receive — War seems too likely; the hostile Republics appear to be determined to bring every Government at their feet; ours will not Submit —
