Sir, ) You will receive from M^r Francis, Surveyor of public Supplies, Two thousand eight hundred and fifty Dollars, which you will distribute to the Indians intitled to receive the same under the treaty of Konondaigua concluded the 11^th of November 1794, agreeably to the said Treaty, in Implements of husbandry, Peen, and Utensils suitable to their circumstances, and in compensating useful Artificers, who shall reside with or near them and be employed for their benefit. The Oneidas have requested in particular to be furnished with Peen. You will consult them and provide them out of their part of the Stipend according to their wish. The Tuscaroras have desired some Implements of husbandry. This request is also to be attended to and gratified. The Stockbridge Indians are to have their part of the Stipend paid wholly in money, viz Three hundred and fifty Dollars. The residue of the four thousand five hundred dollars, or one thousand six hundred and fifty dollars will be vested in Goods and sent to you, to be distributed as heretofore. It is expected that you will use your utmost endeavors to limit the expenditures to the Sum promised by treaty. You will contract on your return home for a Grist Mill for the Oneidas, and for completing their Church; but the Sum which may be expended on both must not exceed Eight hundred dollars, including every thing necessary to give them the immediate boughts of the Mill as soon as completed agreeably to the treaty.
