Sir, The expenditures in the commissary of provisions Department are embraced by the Quarter Masters accounts — The sum expended by the commissary at the posts under his own immediate direction amounts to thirty three thousand, four hundred and forty nine Dollars and twenty one Cents of which in the adjustment of his accounts there appears a balance due of thirteen thousand, six hundred and eighty two Dollars and twelve Cents including two thousand dollars with which he stands charged by the Accountant of the War Department, and three thousand and fiftyeeven Dollars borrowed of the Qr master General with the Army which comes are to be returned. The accounts thus stated are more to terminate with the Auditor — The due Bills in the hands of the Army for provisions not issued the commissary estimates two Thousand Dollars for the payment of which no provision is made.
