Sir, Philad^a 10^th April 1793 Agreeably to your request I have made, and herewith send you a Statement of the Money which has passed through my hands as Agent for the Quarter Masters Department from the time of my appointment up to the first day of the present year — The Statement shews the annual expenditure during the time. — The present situation of the Army, should we be favoured with peace, will considerably abridge the transportation expenditures, but it should be recollected, that Naval appointments on the Lakes which are chargeable to the Quarter Masters Department will for this year Swell the amount very considerably, from the present view of the Business I am led to conclude, that the expenditure in the present year will be equal to the above average or nearly so — I am Sir Your most Obedient Servant Samuel Hodgdon — James McHenry Esq^r.
