Boston April 9. 1798
Sir Inclosed you have the Returns from the Navy Yard in this place for the Month of March 1798 which I hope will meet as our approbation.
You will please observe that there is 5 pieces of Live Oak timber Conto 79 feet also 63½ feet of White Oak ship timber more in this Return than there has been, or several Returns back. This is owing to cleaning out the Dock, in which under the Mud we found the above mentioned timber — The receipt for the blocks of Iron Kentledge is forwarded and but one out of the three anchors. Capt Nicholson has condemned two of which I am informed he has given information of to the department of War
