The Honble
Dwight Foster, in Congress Accountants Office
April 9th 1796
Sir
In consequence of your request I have caused an examination, to take place of the Muster Rolls of the Massachusetts line, and finds that Ruben Pike enlisted as a private in the 6 Regt on the 27th of January 1777. for the War, and was promoted to Corporal the 1st of Augt 1780, but cannot ascertain the time of his death.
The name of Samuel Scammel does not appear on any of the Muster Rolls of the late line of Massachusetts.
