Mr Humphries has been instructed to engage a number of Shipwrights to work on the Gallies building by the Quarter Master General at Pittsburgh. It will be proper that these Men should enter into a written engagement expressive of the wages which they are to receive and engaging their best Services for a term not exceeding Six months if the United States should think proper so long to employ them. —
This being a Quarter Master business you will advance the Men some money taking Security for the performance of the contract, and send them off on monday morning by a Stage to Shippenburgh. —
P.S. You will forward a duplicate of the engagement. —
