It will be proper that these Men should enter into a written engagement expressive of the wages which they are to receive, and engaging their best services for a term not exceeding six months if the United States should think proper so long to employ them.—
This being a Quarter Master business you will assure the Men some money taking Security for the performance of the contract, and send them off on monday morning by a Stage to Shippensburg—
P.S. You will forward a duplicate of the engagement.—
