Sir
I received your letter of the 8 Instt enclosing Muster & Pay rolls of yourself and recruits for March last and also Receipts for Bounties paid by you; the former will undergo the necessary examination and the amount due thereon will be remitted so soon as Congress shall pass the law appropriating for the present year, the latter will be filed subject to a future examination on the settlement of your Recruiting account.
I am sorry at the discontent of your Recruits for the want of their pay for the present year, they are not the only soldiers that are without their pay and they must be satisfied with it, till Congress pass the appropriations.
