In answer to my letter on the Subject, the Quarter Master General informs me, Shot and Shells of all Sizes and in any quantity can be had in the Vicinity of Pittsburgh & the price will not exceed and probably will be less than Eighty Dollars a ton at that rate they may be calculated on with certainty I have thought it proper to make the communication, supposing it probable that some arrangement might be effected by it

Yours of the 23d instant is before me, the account you request to have the Auditor, of course until he has operated on it and the vouchers has passed the Comptroller also, it cannot go out. I will hasten the business and as soon as it gets into the registers hands, I can and will obtain it for your use. I will speak to Humphreys on the business you mention. It is [undecipherable: certainly] strange he should recommend a person for so important a Service.
Your drafts shall be honored. Tin for Blocks and twenty Sets of Iron trucks for garrison carriages are under order and will be on the way Shortly.
The Papers will shew you the temper of one Side of the Question, it is probable the Politics of the other Side with prevail —
