I received your letter of the 20 Instt & agreeably to your request, I herewith transmit, you a statement of a statement of account Current, I find that you was paid a [strikethrough: Dollar] to 31 July 1795. from which time to the 11 August 1796 you were paid with the Army, from that day to 31 October 1796, your pay is allowed & a balance is found against you of 19 Drs 28 Cts; this sum is exclusive of advances made by Mr Craig & others as you will observe by the Account Currt, I have therefore to request your immediate attention in refunding the amount —

I have received your letter of the 26 Instt the 1st enclosing receipts for Bounty paid & a certificate of the late Contractor of your having refunded the sum of 46 Dollars, agreeably to my letter to you on that subject — they will be filed with the vouchers already forwarded, subject to an examination & settlement of your account, the money you refunded to mr Whittlesey for Ration overdrawn will be settled at the Treasury Department —
