Sir, Philadelphia 26^th March. 1795. I have recieved your letter of the 15^th instant— The price paid by the public for the Gun Stocks sent to West Point for your use is Sixteen pence each to which add the cost of inspection Storage and transportation with the interest of the money which will warrant a charge of Eighteen pence or three Cents on each Stock delivered at West Point meaning the dollar or each thus delivered one third of a dollar at which rate any sum be charged to our p^r account and warrant on your own account. But I see not why you may not draw them from the public store and account for them by the return of the Muskets Stocked as was done in the case of the Bayonets and Rammers delivered your p^r and I would not advise it to you as the Stocks our it appears to me needs a would be preferable and that of drawing the price from us now seems to be the best. For there is no use is and as one number of Bayonets were be forwarded shortly to Major Staples to enable you to com[undecipherable] the Gun delivered by every able I can be of use at present I am Sir your most obedient Servant Samuel Hodgdon M^r Franck.
