I have receiv'd your's of the 15^th instant — The prices paid by the public for the Gun Stocks sent to West Point for your use is Shaving for'd and cast to which add the cost of inspection Storage and transportation with the interest of the money which will warrant a charge of Eight and a third Cents on each Stock delivered at West Point making the value of each thus delivered one third of a Dollar at which rate any sent be charged to our g^t account and warrant on your own account. But I see not why you may not draw them from the public one and account for them by the return of the Muskets Stocked as was done in the case of the Bayonets and Rammers delivered you, and I would now direct it so to you as the Stocks are at appear to no one needs a would be purchased and that of drawing the value from the one seems to be the best. Five hundred Ramrods and as one number of Bayonets were be forwarded shortly to Major Staples to enable you to carry the Gun business by ever what it can be if you all present I am Sir your most obedient Servan^t Samuel Hodgdon M^r Franck.
