Your letter of the 21 Instr to the
requesting information whether an order for paying the ration
accounts of the Pennsylvania Militia on the Western Expedition
on the [undecipherable] June was handed to me at dates; and in answer thereto
remark, that the accounts for retained, rations &c are to be handed to this
Office and if any mode can be adopted, to ascertain the Just, if
they will of course be settled here —
Had the Pay will have made
to Muster, (for recourse must be had to the Muster Rolls to ascertain
true time of service) the difficulty in the examination would not be
so great, the irregularity, & the inaccuracy of the Contractors have
[Cancelled as substitute by Messrs of March [undecipherable]]
