Philadelphia 22^d March 1798 Sir Colonel Thomas Butler informs me a suitable quantity of Buntin is wanted to make two Garrison Flags, and requests it may be forwarded to Colonel David Henley as soon as convenient— I have likewise engaged what woolen cloth is necessary, shortly, by which if you think proper, the Buntin & Colours are in like quantity may be forwarded I am, Sir your most obedient Servant Samuel Hodgdon James McHenry esq^r Sec^y of War. Philadelphia 21 March 1798 Sir A letter found at the War Office from a certain Charles Tinton, advises Captain Uriah Springer's having left in his possession a large Box containing Soldiers Clothing which he person has applied for — the Secretary often requests you to apply for and receive the above Clothing and paying any reasonable charges that may be demanded for Storage or Keeping.
