Philadelphia 19^th march 1798. Sir I have repeatedly requested an order for one thousand Gun Stocks to be sent to the Public manufactory at Springfield. I wish to know whether the Secretary declines accepting them — the works are nearly destitute and loss will probably be experienced — more Iron is also wanted.
