Sir, Savannah, March 16, 1798. I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 14^th [strikethrough: instant] ultimo, which came to hand this day. On the 12^th instant I received under cover from the Treasurer of the United States, the sum of fourteen thousand nine hundred and fifty two dollars, being the sum you mention for the pay of the regular troops in this State to the 31^st December, 1797, according to the Estimates I forwarded to you.
