I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 14th [strikethrough: instant] ultimo, which came to hand this day.
On the 12th instant I received under cover from the Treasurer of the United States, the sum of fourteen thousand nine hundred and fifty two dollars, being the sum you mention for the pay of the regular troops in this State to the 31st December, 1797, according to the Estimates I forwarded to you.
