Tousards Letter Rec^d 16 March Cp 6] Fort Mifflin March 5^th 1798 Sir I have the honor of Inclosing to you the muster and pay roll of the Detachment under my Command for the Months of Jan^y & Feb^y 1798 On the latter I will offer Some remarks to your consideration. In the last pay roll, James Lewis to whom the pay of a Serjeant was not allowed was only paid as a private tho' a Corporal at least these twelve months the remark is made on the receipt roll which I transmitted to you — therefore I have recalled him. Doll^s 4 — At the request of Doct^r Lynch, I issued the order which I inclose the Copy of, appointing John Tate as a nurse, which capacity he was in at the western army, and placed him on the pay roll for 8 day of Feb^y D^rs 1, 14 c^ts Charles Wilson gave himself up as a deserter from Captⁿ N. Kalteisen the 12^th of Jan^ry last, was tried by a Court Martial and Sentenced to Serve the time which he had to do when he deserted — Whatever is the amount of the expence for his pursuit and advertisement, what time he had to Serve, what is the date of his Inlistment I do not know; and therefore have mentioned only his name without fixing any particular Sum to it — and Shall wait for your Instruction. he Says he had only 15 Days to Serve when he deserted, and in Consequence claims his discharge — Abraham Butler tho' on the list, was found unfit for Service; the Muster Master refused to Muster him. last Summer James Hamilton deserted from this Garrison; Ramsay the Drummer you Spoke to me of was with him when he gave himself up to L^t Boote; where he meet him I do not know he has never been at this garrison and formerly belonged to James Bruffs Company.
