In the absence of the Accountant
I acknowledge the receipt of your letters of the 11th December 97. &
February 11th: the former containing Michael O'Briens receipt for 4
Dollars, which sum will be passed to your Credit on the Books of this office.
The forty Dollars mentioned in your last letter were refunded to the Quarter
master General, & were passed to your Credit on the 25 December last,
which day a settlement of your accounts took place in this Office.
