Sir, Agreeably to the request of the Secretary of War, I enclose the Inspector of Shoes Oath of Office to be put on your files I am Sir Your most Obedient Servant Samuel Hodgdon W^m Nathan Jones Philadelphia 27^th February 1798. Sir, Judge e Miller from the Natches, has this day put into my hand, your receipt for two Horses and their trappings which he had been furnished with by a Public Agent at that place to take him to this City — I would thank you to inform me how they came to be delivered up to you, what is their condition; and whether they would sell for their worth at Baltimore. When I am thus informed I shall determine as I think must for the Interest of the Public either to have them sold there or sent to this City, to the end that when thus disposed of your receipt may be cancelled.
