William Polk Esq^r superⁿ Charlotte N^o Carolina Accountants Office February 7^th22 Sir I have received your letter of the 2^d respecting your claim for land as aderanged Officer, and have at the War Office where the names of Officers entitled to land the United States are returned, your name does not appear on it If you was deranged as a major you would be entitle to 400 a and in order to ascertain this point I have had recourse to the Rolls, where you appear to be omitted in January 1778 without reason being offered I have also referred to your settlements which made with the State of North Carolina where it appears they h with you for pay & subsistance 8^th up to 31 August 1779 it would appear that you could not have been considered as aderanged O entitled to Land from the United States I am &^c W^m Simmon Acc^tt Ensⁿ W^m R.
