Nicholas Fish Esquire Supervisor at New York on your giving him Duplicate receipts, holding yourself accountable. — Agreeably to your request I return you enclosed Lieu^t Vatchers certificates relative to the pay &^c of four discharged soldiers — I am y^rs W Simmons Acct The Secretary of War Accountants Office Sir February 19^th 1798 In answer to your letter of the 17^th Inst.^t requesting whether the Agent for paying the Militia of Maryland was to have paid them the additional pay conformably to the original pay tolls without varying therefrom — I can Remark that the Pay rolls are made up generally for 3 M & 5 days, by the Pay Master General of the Militia Army at three Dollars per Month agreably to the pay allowed by Law previous to the act of the 12^th January 1795. and the additional pay for same period at three Dollars &^c per month by the state Agent (allowed by the act of the 12^th January 95)
