Elizabeth Town 5. Feb^y 1798 Sir, I received your letter of the 5^th Instant this morning, in which you mention that Congress have not yet made any appropriations for the present year, which makes it necessary that I make out my account, only up to the 31^st Dec. 97 & that I must attest to that for my subsistence before a Magistrate, which I have now done. You wish me to inform you upon what grounds I charge my rations at seventeen Cents, the last contract at this place I think was eighteen, the present is seventeen & I understand that at New Brunswick is also seventeen.
