David Hale                                Accountants Office Ellis Island, New York                      February 26, 1798 Sir I received your letter of the 3^d Instant enclosing sundry receipts for bounties paid by you which are filed in the usual manner subject to a future examination. The Treasurer of the United States remitted to Nicholas Fish Esquire Supervisor New York on the 31^st Ultimo the sum of two hundred Dollars intended to have been paid to you for the recruiting service. It was omitted to advise you or him of the same in due time. Mr Fish has however been wrote to by me on the subject by this days post and on application to him he will pay you the above sum on your giving him the necessary receipts holding yourself accountable for the aforesaid purpose.
