West Point February 4^th 1798 Sir, I have been informed by Lt Freeman that you had retained the balance of bounty of James Johnson whom I Enlisted, till you were informed by me that the Same was due him — I Supposed it was Sufficient to mention in the muster Roll that he received only two Dollars of bounty expecting that the account I sent you on the 6^th of January would be a Sufficient voucher to intitle him to his claims — as I do not intend to pay him the remaining part of his bounty I would be extremely obliged to you to forward me the amount of my last recruiting Account.
