Sir, Enclosed herewith you will find sundry Muster, Pay and Receipt Rolls together with other accounts of Disbursements made in your department accompanied by a Schedule by which it appears that the several sums thus disbursed amount to four thousand and sixty five Dollars 9 5⅗ cents and which you will be pleased to place to my credit on the Books of your Office. You will be pleased to observe that in support of the last charge on the Schedule I have transmitted you an extract of Major Swan's letter of the 25^th of January 1796 and as he is now in Philadelphia he will if necessary more fully explain that business and I hope in such a manner that I may have credit for the twenty dollars advanced to En. Harris instead of 9 ³⁶/₁₀₀ dollars. In examining and comparing Captain Bisell's Pay & Receipt Rolls with accounts of Payments made to men discharged from his Company you will see that John Clarke Jan^r, discharged on the 8^th of September 99^th, is inadvertently twice paid and therefore as that error has arisen from inattention in examining the Pay Rolls, it is just that Captain Bisell and not I, should have credit for that payment. Intended that my account current up to the end of the year past, should have accompanied this, But being unable to complete the Payments of that part of Captain Turner's Company that is left here and at Franklin together with several small detachments now here from other Corps — Muster Rolls of which Maj. Sivell is preparing and I expect will shortly be handed to me, immediately after which I shall make such Payments as are warranted by the Muster Rolls and shall then transmit you a Statement of my accounts. But I presume on examining my account account in your Office you will now see that there is but a small balance remaining in my hands. Muster, Pay, & Receipt Rolls are wanted — I have taken the liberty to enclose herewith a Packet addressed to John Woods Esq. of the Senate of Pennsylvania which you will be pleased to permit one of your young men to hand to him at his Quarters at the Indian Queen.
