Your accounts have been examined, and a balance found due you, after deducting the 500 Dollars you credit as received for your bill in favor of Wm Davidson &c and which was not paid in this Office but presume Mr Hodgdon paid it, is sixteen hundred eighty eight Dollars & 100/— agreeably to the enclosed copy of an account Current stated in this Office—
Mr Hodgdon has applied for this balance to oppose to monies you recd from him but suspended paying the amount until I hear from you on this subject— It would be more regular if you draw an order in favor of Mr Hodgdon—

I recd your letter of the 16 Inst enclosing Muster & Pay Rolls for November & December of the Detachment at West Point also the Subsistence Accounts of the Officers of the said Detachment for October November & December 97, the former have undergone the necessary examination and the following is the Result Viz:—
