I have received your letter of the 23d Ultimo. On the subject of Colo Hawkins's Bill on favor of General Pickens for 761 Do: which you say was to have been placed to the credit of his account in the [undecipherable] Branch Bank of Charleston — that the Bill was lodged in the Secy of War's Office and it rested with him to direct the remittance — I have communicated the contents of your letter to his Clerks who will take the proper steps to have it effected
