Sir,
In this will be found the receipt of Captain Edward Miller, for two hundred & ninety five Dollars and twelve cents, agreably to your letter of the 8th Instant. The receipt bearing date the 13th Instant, was transmitted to me on that day, in confidence that the amount would have been then in my hands, ready for payment. But the Treasurers letter enclosing said amount in a post note, was not received until this day; and my letter of even date herewith to Capt Miller, with the post note enclosed, has been placed in the Post Office this day.
