Sir, In this will be found the receipt of Captain Edward Miller, for two hundred & ninety five Dollars and twelve cents, agreably to your letter of the 8^th Instant. The receipt bearing date the 13^th Instant, was transmitted to me on that day, in confidence that the amount would have been then in my hands, ready for payment. But the Treasurers letter enclosing said amount in a post note, was not received until this day; and my letter of even date herewith to Cap^t Miller, with the post note enclosed, has been placed in the Post Office this day.
