Sir,
[undecipherable] has returned to this place a few days ago, on Leave from this place when I shall soon follow with the [undecipherable] taking with him vouchers to enable us to make a final Settlement of the Commissary business. He has put into my hands Recpts & other vouchers for Cash paid by him expended for the payment of [undecipherable]
men and horses, as well the paid by him for the purchase of provisions last winter for the troops by order of the Comr in chief of the Army — [strikethrough: undecipherable] by Day who was furnished with public money [undecipherable] obliged to raise money by the [undecipherable] of my drafts. I have now found the [undecipherable] expiry on his arriving to draw on the Secy of War for 5000 Doll. on the 10th [inst].
