Middletown Jan^y 1^st 1798 Sir, I have the honour to enclose to you a Statiment of my recruiting Account for your examination, in which Statiment you will find 216 dol. 90 Cents ballance due the Recruits for their Bounty, Which I wish you to transmit to Cap^t E. Miller or myself as soon as it can be done as I have promised those who have not rec^d 10 dollars that they should have it made up to them on their arrival at this place And I have also found it nec^esary to advance money to a considerable Amount, in my private capacity, for the Debts, of those who have rec^d 10 dollars as well as others, This has been paid to keep the Soldiers from the hands of the Sheriff and on other urgent occasions I am with the greatest Respect Sir Your most Hble Servant Hon.
