John Carr requiring such information from me as will enable you to report on his claim in reply you will receive herewith a copy of his account current as settled in Nov^r 17[undecipherable] by John White Esq^r agent of the Maryland line by which he received his pay & Rations to the 1^st June 1784. Said to be the [undecipherable] of his Resignation in order to ascertain this fact I have made a [undecipherable] examination in such of the Muster Rolls of the Maryland line as [are] filed in this Office & do not find any later than [one] taken in April 1780 for the preceding months wherein he appears to have Mustered in the 3^d Maryland Regiment of foot commanded by Archibald Anderson in Cap^t Jacob Price's Company and not [undecipherable] the Country I have also examined the Arrangements of the [undecipherable] the Maryland line [undecipherable] of those arranged for service agreeably to the Congress of the 3 & 21^st October 1780 wherein his name does not [undecipherable: appear] neither does it appear in the List of Officers who retired on half [undecipherable: pay] the 1^st Jan^y 1784 [undecipherable] therefore [undecipherable] to believe that the agent [undecipherable] just[undecipherable]
