John Carr requiring such information from me as will enable you to report on his claim in reply you will receive herewith a copy of his account current as settled in Nov. 1785 by John White Esq^r agent of the Maryland line by which [undecipherable] he received his pay & Rations to the 1^st June 1781 Said to be the [undecipherable] his Resignation in order to ascertain this fact I have made a [undecipherable] examination of such of the Muster Rolls of the Maryland line a[undecipherable] filed in this Office & do not find any later than one taken [undecipherable] April 1780 for the preceding Months, wherein he appears to ha[undecipherable] Mustered in the 3^d Maryland Regiment of foot commanded by Archibald Anderson, in Cap^t Jacob Bruce's Company, and no[undecipherable] the Country. I have also examined the Arrangements of the C[undecipherable] the Maryland line 7 of those arranged for Service agreeably to [undecipherable] Congress of the 3^d & 21^st October 1780. wherein his name does no[undecipherable] neither does it appear in the List of Officers who retired on hal[undecipherable] the 1^st Jan 1781.
