Lieu^t David Hale Ellis Islands near New York Accountants Office January 3^d 1798 Sir I received your letter of the 1^st Inst. covering Muster & Pay Rolls for December 1797 of yourself & recruits from the latter a deduction of one dollar and ninety five cents has been made being so much ovecalculated on the pay of Lewis Hawley a Musician who is made up for one month and who it appears by the Muster Roll to have joined on the 13 December This deduction leaves an amount of eighty nine Dollars and fifty three Cents which Sum you will receive from Nicholas Fish Esq. Supervisor at New York on your giving him duplicate receipts holding yourself accountable. The receipts contained in yours above referred to for bounties paid by you will be filed as usual.
